    Albert and Catherine traveled to Missouri, South Dakota, Arkansas, and Oklahoma going by team and wagon. They returned to Iowa and engaged in farming there. Albert also worked for the Railroad at Esterville,Iowa.
    Albert and his family moved to Montana in May of 1913, joining his father and brothers who had homesteaded on the North Fork of Burns Creek. Albert settled on the South Fork of Burns Creek where they farmed until the fall of 1935. They then purcha sed a small irrigated tract of land just west of Savage where they lived until their death. Aged 74 years.

    GEORGE W. McFARLAND is a native of Frederick County, Va., and was born January 1, 1803. He is of Scotch-Irish descent, and the fourth of twelve children born to Leven and Sarah (Bonecutter) McFarland. Both his grandfathers were soldiers in the wa r of the Revolution, and his father served in the war of 1812. George W. came to this State in 1831, and for nine years resided in Muskingum County, where for six years he followed his trade as cooper. He subsequently moved to Knox County; and, i n 1849, settled in that part of Williams which afterward became Fulton County. In 1854, he came to this township, and located on the farm where he now resides. He was married, July 2, 1831, to Sarah A. Jennings, also a native of Frederick County , Va., and to their union have been born eleven children, seven of whom are still living, viz.: Charles J., John W., Abram F., Elmore, Newton, Mrs. Sarah Eley and Mrs. Elmira Ziggler. Of these, Charles J. and John W. were gallant soldiers during t he late war, and took part in a number of desperate engagements. Mr. and Mrs. McFarland are consistent members of the Presbyterian Church, and are among the most highly respected families of the township.
