1 - My John McFarlane married Agnes Davidson (daughter of Peter Davidson, mother unknown) and my direct ancestor was their daughter Eleanor Helen McFarlane born May 8, 1826 in Scotland. The dates seem to coinside. I do not have any information on any siblings for her. She is my great great grandmother.

2 - DOB looks doubtful as she has a brother born only a couple of months later. She is probably the Helen shown in IGI search as daughter of another John McFarlane and Agnes Davidson who was bapt. 7 May 1828 Muirkirk, Ayr, Scotland.

3 - Hellen McFarlane is somewhat problematic. She appears in the 1851 census in Scotland with husband William Henry and is 23 (so born abt. 1828), with birth in Muirkirk. But on her tombstone it says birth in 1826.

So, tried to find her in 1841 and found a Hellen Mcfarlane, age 11, born Ayrshire, living in Muirkirk with the family of John Hair, age 80. So, it would appear she is an orphan.

Rossann has a tree on Ancestry and she puts that Hellen is the daughter of John and Agness Davidson MacFarlane, which there is a birth record for a Helen on April 23, 1828, but she never appears in the census record with those two.
