Hello Andrew,

I have been looking into Catherine McFarlane I43127, whose gravestone is next to that of my forebears (Duncan McFarlane I43124) in the Tarbert cemetery, South Knapdale.

Having consulted with another researcher who has Catherine in her tree (Anne Martin), and checked the evidence of Census and a her death certificate, I have confirmed that Catherine is NOT the daughter of Duncan McFarlane I43124 and Christina Johnstone. In fact her parents were: Dugald McFarlane and Mary Carmichael. Her MI is in Tarbert cemetery South Knapdale.

Catherine married Duncan LEITCH on 3 Mar 1821, and Census records indicate they had eight children: Mary (born 1823), Dugald (born 1825), twins John and Nancy (born 1830), Archibald (born 1836), Margaret (born 1837), Catherine (born 1839), and Duncan (born 1841). In the 1841 Census they were living in Escart, Kilcalmonell Parish. She died 7 Feb 1895.

Can you please Unlink Catherine from Duncan and Christina, thankyou.

I received a photo of it and the one next door to it, and they prove that in actual fact "our" Archibald (ID I8421) is the son of Duncan MacFarlane ID I43124. So Duncan I43124 had as eldest child our Archibald I8421. So the parents of I8421 are Duncan and Christina Johnstone.

(Research): I followed up on the MI in Tarbert cemetery which was referenced in your database. I received a photo of it and the one next door to it, and they prove that in actual fact "our" Archibald (ID I8421) is in fact the son of Duncan MacFarlane ID I43124. So Duncan I43124 had as eldest child our Archibald I8421. So the parents of I8421 need to be changed (to Duncan and Christina Johnstone).
The Archibald McFarlane that should be attached as a son of Malcolm MacFarlane I8419 is in fact Archibald I22892 (we have verification of this birth).

9 Ancestry.com trees Jul 2021. One suggests a father Donald and one suggests parents Donald McF & Margaret McCallum. The others just have wife Christian [sp] Johnstone.
