My McFarlane ancestors are also from New Brunswick. I always thought that it was my Gr-Grandfather William McFarland (settled in the Kingston Peninsula) not far from Fredericton, but in January 2010 there was new information put on the New Brunswick archives that show that it was his father James McFarland who had actually emigrated with his family. I am going down to Moncton, NB this fall and hope to do a bit of research to see if I can find any additional information. I was told by my father that we were Scottish but also found out that my McFarland relatives had emigrated from Ireland.
