  1. 4.  Francis Marion McFarland was born in Jun 1845 in Missouri (son of Jacob McFarland and Mary McFarland); died in 1911 in Benton Co., Arkansas; was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Siloam Springs, Benton Co., Arkansas.

    Notes:

    Jacob McFarland wills his land to his only living son Francis M. McFarland: the farm and plantation of 160 acres, filed March 7, 1864, Vol. 1 of Will Records on pp. 47, 48.
    Francis Marion sold this land to George Bradley in St. Francois County (Book K, pp. 47-48). That explains the Bradley burials in the same plot with Jacob and Mary McFarland.
    Francis Marion must have moved to Texas for a while. He was in Grayson Co. in the 1880 census with 4 children, then is in the 1900 Arkansas census in Benton County, where he remains.
    F.M., Mary Jane, Jessie, and Edwin McFarland are buried together in Block 11, Lot 35, in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs, Benton Co., Arkansas. O.B. Kiepe of St. Francois County recounts that McFarlands from Arkansas used to come up to visit the old house and cemetery years ago (2006).

    Jacob McFarland wills his land to his only living son Francis M. McFarland: the farm and plantation of 160 acres, filed March 7, 1864, Vol. 1 of Will Records on pp. 47, 48.
    Francis Marion sold this land to George Bradley in St. Francois County (Book K, pp. 47-48). That explains the Bradley burials in the same plot with Jacob and Mary McFarland.

    In Vol. 1 of the St. Francois Will Record, p. 47-48 of Jacob McFarland, filed March 7, 1864, he wills to his only living son Francis M. McFarland his farm and plantation of 160 acres. To his four daughters Angeline M, Narcissa, Mary A. Watts, and Sarah J. Keith, he bequeaths $100. plus one bed and bedding, one bedstead, dining and serving table and one cow. FHL #915206

    According to the records of the cemetery found at the Farmington Library: The McFarland Cemetery is in Township 35, Range 7, NW 1/4 of Section 8, owned in 1989 by Franklin Smith. It is just off Wesley Chapel road, on the west side of the road, just across from the Wesley Chapel Cemetery. It is on private land, under a grove of trees, and almost completely overgrown. In the St. Francois County Missouri Cemeteries Book, Vol. 3, p. 204 are listed these burials:

    There are other people buried there: George and Elizabeth Madison, George, Annie, Delia, and Horace Bradley, who were neighbors, and then the Smiths who were also neighbors: Willliam T. Smith, Eva L. Smith, Jamie Smith and Mary Lillian Smith. The Smiths purchased the property from the McFarlands, and their descendants own it still today. The last burial is William Smith, born 1853, died Dec. 2, 1908.

    Obituary: April 1857 Vol. VII: Mrs. Mary McFarland, daughter of John and wife of Jacob McFarland and mother-in-law of Rev. H.S. Watts, was born 3 June 1800 and died 30 Jan. 1857 in St. Francois County, Missouri. Her mother was a Baptist, but she united with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in 1824 at a camp meeting in Washington County, Missouri. Later she and family joined the M.E. South. She left a husband, four daughters and one son. She had lost four children. Funeral at Shilo Church. Written by J.C. Berryman.
