MHH notes:
I assume that this Samuel Walter is a son of Dr. George McFarland and Cordelia. He is buried next to Samuel and Jane McFarland at the Mt. Zion cemetery. It makes no sense for him to be the son of Samuel Sr. since there is an older son named Samuel King McFarland.
Oldest grave in cemetary.

5193 Olive Mary McFarland was the second child of Anderson and Sarah McFarland to live to maturity. She was born in February, 1856 in Coitsville, Ohio and grew up on the family farm as had her sister, Lovina, just two years older than she. The sister s apparently led similar lives; both became local school teachers and both married in their mid-twenties.
Olive was not at the McFarland/McFarlin family home in 1880, and might be found in Youngstown, Ohio. By 1881 she had married Albert Ross of Youngstown, she twenty-five and he twenty-seven.
They had only one child who apparently died young, as no children are listed as living in the 1900 census. Olive and Albert stayed alone together for at least forty years, moving to Columbus in the early 1900's.
She probably died before the 1930 census

(Research):, and vital records should be checked.

*1 McFarlin; 2003 Many of the McFarlin (McFarland) births, marriages, and deaths, with the names, are from the 1832 William McFarland bible, presented to his grandson, William Kirk McFarland by Wm K's mother, Sarah (Kirk) McFarland, March 9, 187 7 (1897?). Photocopies of the vital records pages in that bible, plus copies of other vital record notes and letters, were given to Peter F McFarlin in 1974, by his uncle, Charles Kirk McFarlin, in Short Hills, New Jersey, who had the bible and no tes in his possession at that time.

5194 On 1870 census, next to George Wilkerson and Rebecca, a family of James Fletcher and wife Sarah age 24 are living. This Sarah could be the S.E. Blankenship of the 1850 census, who is the Sarah Wilkerson of the 1860 census. She is shown married to James, age 31 from Georgia, with children: Jefferson 3, William 3, and James 1 month old. This is the last page of Precinct 3, Post Office Ladonia. Image 30 of 30.

The information that Sarah E. Blankenship is the wife of William Washington Sloan, a Baptist minister, is family information and not verified. The William Sloan in Fannin County is married to an "S" born in Arkansas around 1822. (census records 1850 living next to George Wilkerson and wife Jane, who later marries Rebecca McFarland Blankenship.)

5197 On my grandmother's side Rose Ann Grant I have had some success. 5200 One more new member. This one is pretty interesting. His furthest back ancestor was named Eli Palmer up until sometime after his marriage in 1852. Maybe Eli's mother Darcus (Dorcas?) was a McFarland. Anyway, all the kids adopted the McFarland nam e by the 1860s.

I have asked about Eddie taking a Y-DNA and an autosomal test. We'll see what he says.
