Just today I was looking over some records we are preparing to index, and noted that John D. McFarland of Henry County, is listed on the “Report of arrivals, discharges, transfers and deaths occurring among the prisoners of war confined in the Military Prison at Alton, Ills. During the week ending May 17, 1862.” Prisoner #143 is John D. McFarland, citizen of Henry Co., Tenn., and is shown as having been exchanged on May 17th. There are 226 men on the list, and only a handful are citizens. I saw no others from Henry County. I hope this information may be useful to some of the descendants who use your site.
