- 1 - Unfortunately to this point -I haven't found a definite link to my mother's family - I'll have to go to the Melbourne General Cemetery
and have a good look at the McFarlane graves - to get at least the birth/death dates and correct
Christian names of my Grandfather and his father etc & spouses. Unfortunately my mother and her brother
are no longer with us, and we don't seem to have any decent records held by my cousins!

The Berriman family seems to be everywhere too LOL!
Funnily enough, my brother found out that the Berriman and McFarlane family tree both had Robertson in them - who a few generations back were brothers!!! Needless to say mum was not very impressed when he happily advised her that perhaps we were ' inbred' - that's boys for you!
All I know about the McFarlane side of my maternal side is that they migrated to Australia from Cupar Fife, Scotland,
where oddly enough my husband David Laing was brought up! We were told in our younger days that our McFarlane ancestors came from Arrochar - a place I've visited a few times - and recently, Dave & I took a 'toilet' stop at the Arrochar Hotel is fr eeing, snow & cold weather,
back in March this year, when we had to go to Innellan, (next to Dunnoon) via the Rest and be thankful rout via Loch Lomond, as the car ferry was closed for 3 days due to bad weather! Dave's sister and husband live on the Clyde in Innellan, and w e have been there several times.
I've managed to get some information on the internet, including photos of the graves at Arrochar cemetery, & of course your informative details about some of the occupants. I took photos back in 1970 on my first visit to Scotland with my parent s - but the
slides have disappeared during several house moves.
I will certainly keep you informed of any progress. I know it will take time, during any spare moments I get. I should be writing the first chapter of the third book in a series for my publisher at the moment, but the geneology seems to be takin g over!

2 - Wendy's home town is Sunbury, Victoria, Australia, amongst the surrounding vineyards of the Sunbury Wine region. (We live approximately 25 km north of Melbourne and 10 km from Tullamarine International Airport).
An Australian writer, part-time housewife with a Teaching Diploma, a Bachelor of Arts Degree (majors Professional Writing, Communications) and a Master Of Arts (project/thesis) titled: 'Severance Packages: A crime / paranormal novel and Exegesis f ocussing on the Electronic and Digital publication of Creative Writing'.
Wendy's a 'Jill of all trades' as she has been a teacher, curriculum consultant a travel consultant/manager, ground staff at Melbourne International airport for Flying Tiger airline, and Cathay Pacific Airways (airport & city ticket office), an d a hobby was a professional dog trainer. Upon retirement from Cathay, she went back to University obtaining her under grad BA and and post grad Masters degrees. She has recently revived her piano skills and has composed two pieces, utilizing he r writing skills with Lyrics. Check out her Aussie Anthem further down the page!
Wendy lives with hubby, Dave and their four-pawed family, Kynda, a loveable labradoodle and much loved ugly duckling in a retirement estate at Roxburgh Park, Victoria, Australia.
