    • possibly Enniskillen, County Fermanagh (see letter in Notes)

Enniskillen, County Fermanagh is a short distance south of County Donegal. If "sk' is slurred and the final "en" is swallowed, it might sound similar to "Hershel", which is the supposed birthplace. There may not have been much distinction made between the counties, or it may have been advantageous in some way to claim to be from Donegal.

In the Fillmore County history, there is a book, I think a centennial
book, where a relative left some information on Stewart and Hanley's.
They said they came from Hershel, Donegal, Ireland but as I mentioned
there no such place and the Irish don't usually name anything that
starts in H. It might have been a "sounded like" that was passed down or
someone wrote the place down from what they thought it was from some
      record.

          Dear Sister Anneliza,

Your letter of Sept. 19th received.

In answer to your inquiry about births and deaths will say that I don't remember but very little about them. Now you write to Sam (his address is Chatfield, Minn.) and you will get the whole family record of Births, Deaths, and Marriages.
I remember our Grandfather (John Stewart) was 81 years old when he died. I remember my grandfather going to Philadelphia to see his son (our Uncle William Stewart) but when he got there William had gone to Iowa so he did not see him so returned back to our home. I don't know whether Grandfather was born in Scotland or Ireland. I have heard him speak of a place where he lived, he said it was seven miles from the bridge of Iniskilian. I remember Aunt Dorcas and Aunt Eliza - they used to work for some rich man in Weathersfield - they came to our place once in a while to see us.

Note: the above letter was written to his sister Ann Eliza (Hanley) Sargent in Ludlow, Vermont. The uncle William is William Henry Stewart b. 1807 Ireland.  John told Anneliza to write to Sam. That would be Samuel Hanley Jr of Chatfield, Minn.
