  LAVINA (MCFARLAND) HARRIS (1835 to ca 1900) (Research by Peter Folsom McFarlin - May, 2012, rev Dec 2018) William McFarland, "...reared a large family. Eleven children arrive d at years of maturity. But one son is living, Anderson, at Coitsville . Four of his daughters are living, viz: Mrs Lydia Mahan, Liberty, Tru mbull county; Miss Jemima McFarlin , Niles; Mrs Matilda Price, Coitsvil le, and Mrs Lavina Harris, Youngstown..." (*1 p 168). In the sketch fo r Elizabeth Loveland (*1 p 165), Williams wrote, "...Elizabeth becam e the mother of six sons and six daughters." All above written in 18 8 1-1882. Lavina McFarland, twelfth child of William and Elizabeth (Loveland) Mc Farland, was born on the family farm on the Hazelton road in Coitsvill e, Ohio in 1835. she stayed with her mother and father until his deat h in 1853, when she went to live wi th her nearby married sister Matild a Price, where Lavina is found in 1860, age twenty-five. In 1870 she r ejoined her mother Elizabeth and brother Amos McFarland. In that censu s she is listed as Lucinia, which may have been a nickname for her th e n. At that time they were living in Coitsville center near her brothe r Anderson McFarland's farm. After her sister Candace Harris' death in 1874, Lavina married the wid ower, Hamilton Harris the next year. Both her mother Elizabeth and bro ther Amos sort of 'went along' and are listed as boarding with the Har ris household in 1880. I have foun d no record of any children for he r and Hamilton Harris (PFM). Lavina (McFarland) Harris died sometime between 1882 and 1900 when Ham ilton is found in Youngstown listed with his third wife, Elizabeth, bo rn in Ohio, fifteen years his younger.
