Notes - concerning my great aunt, Elsie. She married David John McBride in Callander in 1928. He was a Civil Servant and they moved to Africa. They made a few trips back to Callander, 1931, 1934 and 1938. They had 2 children: Erica and Morag. 1938 is the last evidence of them in Callander (although a friend of the family seems to remember the girls staying with my great-grandmother, Jessie, during the war). However, 20 years later, in 1958, Elsie makes one more trip back, saying that she will be staying in Callander, but her final destination will be England. On the ship passenger manifest, it states her as being single (not widowed or divorced) and there are no children with her. What happened to her family? Did Elsie settle in England? I would also very much like to find out what happened to Erica and Morag. They may have married and had a family of their own. On the manifest, it says they stayed in Tanganyika (although the family friend seems to think they were in Kenya), so I presume the girls were born there.
