  DNA testing does not match up with any of the known McFarland lines. However, there is one match with Thomas Oliver McFarland, who also has unknown origins, but born in Tennessee at about the same time. There is an indication that there could be a genetic connection to the Dobbins males out of South Carolina who moved to TN.
