  Not sure if this is the John who marries Elizabeth Madison in 1798, nor sure how Elizabeth Madison is connected to the Madisons. John is present in the 1810 census of Orange Co., age 26 to 45, with wife the same, and 5 children: 2 boys under 10, and 2 girls under 10 and 2 girls 10 to 16. According to this census, John would have been born 1785 to 1794, so this fits. 1820 census-Williamsport, Maury Co. TN John McFarland age 26-45 1830 census- Madison Co. TN John McFarland age of 50 under 60 Southwestern Christian Advocate 1838-1846 John McFarlan born Orange Co. NC, Dec 1778, moved to Maury Co. TN in 1818, to Madison Co.
