Notes - So, is it possible that the William McFarland, born 1803, who married Cynthia Edwards on Nov. 28, 1822 in Orange Co. is the son of Larkin who is only identified as a male McFarland from the census records? This William stays put and is living in D ist. 1, Orange Co. next to Umstead and Laws families.
In the 1850 census in Dyer Co. Martha McFarland appears as fam. 304 living with T.D. Lacy who is married to M F. Lacy, age 30, from North Carolina, who I assume is her daughter. She appears as M. McFarland, 63, from North Carolina, and with M. McF arland, Jr. 21, female, from TN; and C.N. McFarland, 20, female from TN, and A.E. McFarland 4, female from TN.
