      JAMES M'FARLAND CALLED BY DEATH
      James McFarland, 80 years of age, died last night at 8:30 o'clock at the home of his daughter Mrs. W. E. Bingham, at Wilson, near here. Pneumonia was the cause of his death.
      Mr. McFarland was born in Scotland on October 25, 1835, and came to Utah in 1855. He resided in Salt Lake until 1858 and had been a resident of Weber county since that time.
      He had served two missions for the Mormon church and was sent to Arizona by Brigham Young with a party that went in search of a spot for a new Mormon colony.
      He is servived by seven sons, seven daughters, eighty-eight grandchildren fifty-seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Two brothers, and a sister also are living.
      Funeral services have not yet been made.

      Deaths and Funerals
      M'FARLAND-Funeral services for James McFarland were held yesterday afternoon in the Wilson ward meeting house, with bishop George Etherington presiding. The meeting house was crowded to its capacity with friends and relatives of the dead pioneer a nd many floral tributes were in evidence. The speakers were Partriarch Levi J. Taylor, W. E. Bingham, J. B. Powell and B. M. Drake. Special music was furnished by Mrs. Lizzie Wilson and Orson Griffin. Mrs. Wilson sang "My Jesus, as Thou Wilt:" Mr . Griffin sang "The Christian's Good-night' and together they sang "After the Toil and Sorrow."
      Interment was in the Ogden City cemetery, the grave being dedicated by E. A. Larkin, Six grandsons of the deceased acted as pall-bearers.
