• Notes

  1 - Worth McFarland's parents were Malcolm Alexander McFarland (1858 - 1935) and Mary Elizabeth McLeod McFarland (1860 - 1921). Malcolm was reportedly from the Licking Creek area of Moore Co. (now Sanford area of Lee Co.) but moved to nearby Harnett Co. and settled on McLeod land Mary Liz's father gave them when they married (prob. in about 1884 or 1885). Malcom was nicknamed "Make" and was called "Grand Make" after he became a grandfather. He was a storekeeper but was partially paralyzed following an accident when he was aged 38. He did recover enough to walk with a cane later in life. The first child of Malcom and Mary Liz was Kate, Worth's oldest sister and my mother's mother. Worth had a sister, Maggie Belle, whom he was particularly close to. Maggie Belle stayed at home to look after her parents and never married.
