  In the "History of Johnson County" written in 1881 there are many McFarland references. http://cdm16795.contentdm.oclc.org/cdm/ref/collection/mocohist/id/76209 p. 202 mentions McFarland's farm with a white sulphur spring, neath mouth of Post Oak, in Warrensburg township, one half mile west of town of Post Oak p. 401 discusses the founding of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in 1866.
