  IMMIGRATION: 1747. Original Land survey of Cumberland County in 1747 had his name. TAXLIST: 1755 NORTH CAROLINA, Cumberland County. John McFarlin. 1 - IMMIGRATION: Must have been abt 1750-1755. Many sources, however, state that he came 1772 from Scotland to Cumberland County, North Carolina. [This relates to a different John McFarland that is often confused with this one.-Ed.] PROBATE: 1767 NORTH CAROLINA, Cumberland County. John McFarland. Mentions wife, children: Duncan, Mary, Dugald, Margaret and John. Most of clan migrated to (MS-Mississippi). Had daughters: Mrs. Cameron, Mrs. McNair, and another Mrs. McNair. 2 - Several sources have put John McFarland (died 1767 NC) as the husband of two women; Mary McLeran, and Catherine Buie. John's will has no mention of the children of the first wife, esp. missing is Bartholomew Parlan, who was born 1751 in Cumberland Co. NC, while his mother was already dead back in Scotland. I do not believe that these two lines are from the same father, although I have seen the claim on one tree that he is. (which would be connected to the John and Catherine Buie line) and that is not genetically related to the Moore Co. Parlan line.
