6 - Our Alexander McFarlane was born in Creilwekan Buchanan and baptised on 12 January 1766 lawful son of Walter MacFarlane and Margaret Macfarlane. He was the 5th born in this family. Elizabeth 1760 born Drymen, John 1762 Buchanan, Duncan & Daniel 1763 Buchanan, then our Alexander 1766, Parlan 1768 Buchanan, Janet 1770 Buchanan then Margaret 1775 Buchanan. Our Alexander lived at Lee Farm Cardross and paid rent to the Laird of Ardoch. Alex McF and family were living at Lee Farm from 1800 until 1813. His wife Jean Johnstone died in 1814 and was buried in the Bridgend churchyard (now known as West Bridgend). I believe the family moved to Lochwinnoch sometime after the death of Jean Johnstone.
Checking the 1851 census I found Alex Macfarlane born Buchanan about 1766 aged 85 yrs living with his son JOHN aged 41 years in Glasgow and he said he was born in Cardross. The address in Glasgow was 82 Eglington Street and it is interesting to note that some of the family gave this address when being married.
