• Notes

  Betty Eskrigge came to America with her parents in 1927. Her father came to New Orleans to take over his Uncle Bob's business as a cotton broker. They settled in Clarksdale Mississippi, where Betty graduated from high school in 1942. She then went to Mississippi State College for Women, where she earned her degree in physical education in 1946. She worked in various places, Portsmouth, VA, St Mary's Junior College in Maryland, Brenau College in Gainesville GA then finishing her Master's at Peabody College in Nashville Tennessee in 1953. Betty was hired to teach P. E. in Dallas, Texas in the fall, 1953, at South Oak Cliff High School. She became a counselor in 1962 and married Joe McFarland Hill, who was the R.O.T.C. instructor at South Oak Cliff in 1964. In 1968, she began counseling at Richardson Jr. High, where she remained until her retirement in 1984.
