  1 - John Edwin Macfarlane was born 6 December 1873 at Port Chalmers, and married Williamina Murray (1898/3482). He was a railway fireman at Balclutha in 1903 (From Primrose's notes) Will filed at Wellington 2 Apr 1925 (Probate No. 36736) Children were: 1899/2204: Grace Emma 1901/1139: John Gordon Grant 1903/1021: Angelina Julia (Lena) 1905/4832: Annie John (Jack) married Dorothy Mann. Children were: Graham Roger. (Roger's children were Nicola and Kirsten) Julie. (Children - Melanie and Heidi (twins)) Virginia Ashley. (Ash and Chris had Heath, Emma and Josie.) Lena was Eric Stevenson's mother. She died at Timaru after 1987. Eric wrote to Don Macfarlane on 1 Dec 1987 with a few bits of information that have not been substantiated as Eric has never produced the originals (as at 31 Dec 2008). This included: 1. John Macfarlane came to NZ on the SS Stormcloud and was presented with a religious book of appreciation that also had a list of the miles travelled. 2. A miniature New Testament and Psalms was sent to "John Macfarlane with love from Grandmother, Edinburgh 1887". This was presumably dedicated to John Edwin not 'old John'. It places a connection to Edinburgh rather than Bushmills... 2 - Burial: Block 96.
