Moved from Iowa to Crowley, Louisiana. 6th grade eduaction. Then business college. First rice farm near crowley. Next had bicycle shop at Abberville, Louisianan. Next had rice farm at Elton - large farm - two colored families lived on farm. Crop losses caused farm to fail. Operated first ice and light plant in Elton until Leo finished high school. Built service station which Leo operated while Perry surveyed. Home burned and Perry sold service station. Perry moved to Galveston in 1931 and worked in building trade with his brother, Jesse. Grandma managed Crystal Palace Hotel (Apts). Moved to Daisetta and built dad's (leo) service station in 1939. Worked in Beaumont at ship yards with dad (Leo) during world war II. Sarah A. Mcfarland was born in Burnet, Texas in 1882. Died in League City, Texas in 1967. McFarland family moved from Burnet, Texas to Crowley, Louisiana.
