I was born on a farm near Bertram August 23, 1908. My parents were Lawrence L. and Nora E. Beal. My maternal grandparents were Jesse W. and Margaret Bowmer Warden. My paternal grandparents were Oliver O. and Nancy E. Beal. I was the oldest of four s.
I attended the Bertram schools, graduating with the class of 1925. I then entered the College of Industrial Arts at Denton, Texas. It is now Texas Womens University. I taught school four years in Burnet County Schools.
I married Upton Frazer May 4, 1929. We have two children, a boy and a . Our son, Lawrence (Hoot) is married to the former Emma Pittsford. They live in Houston and have one son, James Clayton.
Our daughter, Laura (Sally) married Albert thast. They live in San Antonio and have four children living and one (Lillian) who died in infancy. Their boys are Albert, Karl, and Paul, and a daughter Laura.
Upton worked in heavy construction for many years. We have lived in Texas from Coleman to Palestine to Austin to Houston and points between, as well as Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. We also lived in India for two and one-half years, which was a most interesting experience.
Upton developed arthritis, and when it became too painful to continue in construction, we bought a small "Papa and Mama" store in Austin which we operated for fourteen years.
In 1969 we moved back to Burnet. I worked as receptionist for Dr. Joe Shepperd and Upton worked in a machine shop until our retirement recently
