  I have found him also in trees as the son of Hugh Kirkpatrick Sr. born 1697 Dumfrieshire, Scotland. Died May 18, 1768 in Chester Co. PA married to Margaret Gregg. In the tax list of 1753 in Chester Co. PA is Hugh Kirkpatrick and a son John Kirkpatrick. History of Chester County, p. 198 In 1799 living in Grainger Co. TN. Burial in Bent Creek Cemetery, south of Whitesburg, Hamblen Co. Bent Creek Cemetery is attached to the church organized by Isaac Barton. These Kirkpatricks were living in the same area as the McFarlands.
