193 Alexander Dunlap from near Philadelphia married Jean McFarland and lived
first in Rockbridge County. Captain Alexander Dunlap born Goshen, VA. Goshen
was first known as Dunlap Pass & Bratton's Run was Dunlap's Run.

D921h. Alexander Dunlap (1716-1744), of Scottish Lineage, immigrated from
Scotland or Ulster to Augusta County, Virginia in 1730, and married Ane
MacFarlane in 1737. Their first son, John Dunlap (1738-1804), was born in
Philadelphia, and reared in Augusta County, Virginia. Includes Dunlap
ancestors in Scotland and Ireland.

HISTORY: From "History of Woodford County, Kentucky" by Wm E. Railey 1938 at
Bellingham Library R929.3R "Captain Alexander Dunlap, who led the settlers
into that part of Augusta County, VA., known as the "Pastures". In 1743
Captain Dunlap was the farthermost settler on the Virginia frontier. In that
year he was appointed captain of horse and died in 1744."
