McFarland
Mildred (Mrs. Gordon B.) was born on November 13, 1904 in Goldthwaite, Texas. She moved with her parents to Lubbock where she graduated from Texas Tech in its first graduating class. She married Dr. Gordon B McFarland and moved to Dallas, Texas where he was a leading pediatrician for many years. Mildred McFarland served as president of the Dallas County Doctors Wives and the Highland Park High School PTA. She was a member of the Dallas Women's Club and served on its board of governors, a member of the Mary K. Craig class, Dallas Country Club, Pleaides Club and a longtime member of Northway Christian Church. She is survived by three sons, Gordon and Betty McFarland of New Orleans, LA, John and Linda McFarland of Dallas and Michael McFarland of Dallas; five grandsons, Gordon McFarland III, Wright McFarland, John McFarland Jr, Michael McFarland and David McFarland; two sisters, Mrs. Ben Pope and Mrs. A. M. Justice; one niece, Mrs. Tom Whaley, all of Marshall Texas; and one nephew, Arley Justice of Seattle, Washington. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, January 15, 1994 at Northway Christian church with private burial preceding in Restland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Friday evening at the funeral home. The family requests in lieu of usual remembrances that memorials be made to Northway Christian Church building fund or the Visiting Nurses Association hospice program.

Notes: Gordon must have known Mildred's brother Alvin from college at T.C.U.(?) In the WW I letters that Gordon wrote he occasionally mentioned Mildred and Alvin Street.
