"Iva Lena McFarland was about 5'4" tall-black curly hair but grayed early. brown eyes and average complexion-she was of stocky build, which was called "plump" She did not "behave" as the Scroggins women thought she should, altho they all admitted she was the prettiest woman in Fannin County. The Scroggins women were "straight laced" and exact in their manners. Moma rode horseback, with her hair blowing in the wind.
