Author of a book on Human Protozoology and Helminthology [1960]. [Concerning parasitic worms etc.] He was appointed an Ordinary Commander in the Military Division of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, in the New Year's Honours List, 1 January 1965. There is a portrait of him the The National Portrait Gallery, London. He was a medical doctor, and served with the Royal Army Medical Corps. He is merely commemorated on his parent's grave at Kilgobbin Cemetery Stepaside, County Dublin, Ireland. He was buried in Aldershot, England. Inscription on Second Panel of headstone«i» "Their son Brigadier LENOX ROSS SELBY MacFARLANE O.B.E., M.D., R.A.M.C. died 6th November 1972, aged 68 Buried at Aldershot."«/i» No Death Notice for him was published in Ireland, or in The Times newspaper (London).
