p. 361, "Robert J. Hardwick was born February 18, 1846 in Arkansas, son of Joseph and Rebecca N. (McFarland) Hardwick." they moved to Arkansas in 1844.
p. 362, "The grandfathers of Robert J. Hardwick were Garland Hardwick of Virginia, and Joseph McFarland, of Alabama. Robert J. Hardwick is the third child of five children; Wash., the eldest, died in the Civil War; Thomas Benton, Robert J., William stanford and Lucy Ann, wife of Sam Critbirth, of Callahan county, texas. Robert J. cxame to Texas in 1852, settling about two miles from Pilot Point, which was then a prairie covered with grass head high. His people cut grass from the land where the town of Pilot Point has since been built....."
